[comp.sys.amiga] Patches here, patches there, patches everywhere

vode@niksula.hut.fi (Kai Vorma) (11/12/89)

I have just installed CrossDos demo 3.05b and encountered some
problems. CrossDos needs that I run TDPatch1.2 before using it.
TDPatch fixes some bugs in trackdisk.device but I'm also using WB
1.3.2 and its SetPatch patches something in trackdisk.device, too.
I have also NoClick3.6 which pathces trackdisk.device...

These three program don't work together. If I have NoClick installed,
TDPatch won't work. SetPatch and TDPatch seems to work. Is there any
way to get NoClick and CrossDos running simultaneously? I need both of
them.

And then a second question:

I have 68010 installed and currently I use Set68010 to get programs
working. Set68010 patches Userstate function and the new SetPatch from
WB1.3.2 fixes something in UserState function. Am I again making
something twice?

PS/2 I have also WTFPatch2 in my startup-sequence...

I believe you are supposed to use TDPatch1.3 if you use 1.3. Not
 TDPatch1.2.

The bugs in the Trackdisk.device is only when you have more than
two drives. If this is not the case, don't use ANY of the patches.
remember that the CrossDOS patches patch Trackdisk on the system disk.
Setpatch does it in RAM. I never heard if the bug in trackdisk was fixed
for 1.3.2. If it was, then don't use any of the patches. I have used
CrossDOS with NoClick3.6 together with absolutely no problems.

I asume that Set68010 does a similar function as DeciGel. I don't use
DeciGel because if someone botched a program so bad that it won't work on
a 68010 (which I have) then I refuse to use it. That incompatibility
was understandable back in 1986, but the 010 has been around too long to
 accept it.
