[comp.sys.amiga] Spirit HDA interfaces

ben@pnet01.cts.com (Ben Decker) (11/14/89)

I've installed a Spirit HDA 506 interface on my Amiga 1000. It now works
properly, but I had to send it back to the company twice. Both times they took
MUCH longer than they said they would to get around to looking at it.

Now I've had a compatability problem with my interface and my Mini Megs. They
are at MAST getting a "diode conversion" they said will take care of the
problem. My Mini-Megs are one of the first they made (#138) and I have had no
problems with them up until this compatability thing.

Two questions: 1) Has anyone else had problems with Spirit in terms of
customer support, especially in relation to the HDA-506 Hard Drive interface?
And, 2) Has anyone experienced problems with memory expansions on the end of a
bus pass-through not working?

I'm interested in the Mini-Megs especially, but also would like to know if
this is a common problem with pass-throughs / memory expansions.

Thanks!
                                        -Ben

I had to sent mine back to them because I thought that I had a problem with it.

It turned out to be I didn't have a big enough power supply to power both the
drive and the interface. The sent it back to me after testing it, UPS 2'nd
day.
Bought a new case and power supply for the drive, and everything works fine.

In my manual they have a section warning you to make sure that any memory
boards that you put on the bus are first. I tried to put my starboard after
the interface, and it wouldn't boot. The LED would just flash.
