I used to work at a company here in the Bay area called Faroudja Labs where we manufactured image enhancers much like the one from Vidicraft. We purchased some sample units from various manufacturers to see how some other equipment compared to ours. Vidicraft seemed to be one of the best as far as how well the enhancement worked and the various side effects it can produce. So I would recommend the Vidicraft unit and as far as enhancement goes it is a matter of personal taste. My enhancer makes my tapes look essentially the same as the program material I used when recording, which is a great improvement over over no enhancement. As far as the Copyguard remover goes, all it does is re-insert a vertical pulse to allow the tape deck to lock up. Since this is a fairly simple circuit to accomplish this, I would say that most any Stabilizer would work about the same, with some manufacturers maybe adding more bells and whistles to some units.
