[comp.sys.amiga] Go for Amiga

tjf@beta.lanl.gov (Tom J Farish) (11/02/89)

I read a posting a while ago about a Go program
for amiga. Where can I get the source/binary?

I'm desperately behind schedule in finishing this GO version.
Two weeks ago, I got into the "just one more" disease in trying to
add new features. As you all know, this kind of disease could
be really bad: I had to go back to an earlier backup copy.
Anyway, this version is almost done. Hopefully, I can finish in
a week or two (depending on the amount of work I have at the office!).

P.S: I saw a commercial version of GO at AmiEXPO (in A-Squared booth).
It looks pretty nice. It has a sort of tutoring window describing
the computer's action. I have no information about price and release
     date (I did not ask).

P.P.S: Lately I have problems with my 2000. Sometimes, when booted up,
the computer's keyboard refuses to accept any input. The CAPS-LOCK
light keeps blinking. Turning off the machine for a while would help.
Does anyone have the same problem? Thanks.

I saw a flyer for a commercial version. It says:

"The four-thousand year old game of conquest and strategy from China and
Japan comes to your Amiga in this award-winning version. The Art of Go."

Has anyone out there played this? Is it any good? I've played
one for the IBM PC called Cosmos, from Ishi press, which is an ok
program but doesn't play a very strong game of Go. Does anyone know
how much A-squared is asking for their program?

i spoke to the folks at A-Squared, and they indicated that they were
starting to ship to distributers as of last friday. the guy i spoke to
implied that this was a port of a MacVersion, except for a few enhancements
to the amy version made during the port. he claimed that it is probably
the strongest playing program of the 'pc' level. list price: $55
he was happy to sell me one over the phone, but suggested i wait until
it shows up on the local shelves at the usual 10% or so off.
