wKeys is a little input handler utility that is used to depth arrange and activate windows and screens. It is configurable, although I've never bothered to change the default assignments since I find them quite convenient (they use RAmiga-cursor and RAmiga-shift-cursor keys, allowing things to be controlled from a nice tight grouping of keys with one hand). The big thing that I like about wKeys is that when you bring a new screen to the front or push one to the back, it automagically activates the frontmost window on the new front screen. {Occaisionally this fails. Most notably it fails if I push a CED screen to the back after CED has put up a requester}. This feature has drastically reduced the number of times I have to reach for the mouse! Afraid I can't remember the author. I have wKeys v2 at home and could post it, but it's been out for quite awhile and I imagine that it is at an ftp site somewhere. Jim

Speaking of keys to control windows..... I got Gizmos 2.0 a long time ago. At that time, I used Quickmouse to speed up my mouse. The neatest feature in Quickmouse (and the sole reason I STILL run it along with Dmouse) is that LEFTAMIGA-A and LEFTAMIGA-S will cycle through ALL screens. A goes forward and S in reverse. Now this makes sense. You use ONE hand to quickly flip screens. I've always thought LEFTAMIGA-N and M was such a waste because TWO hands were involed (makes it no fun when one hand is using the mouse) and only went to first and last screens (duh, real handy). I sure wish DMOUSE had this feature. There are times when you may not be using the mouse, or there is no screen showing behind a window and the quick LEFTAMIGA-A,S fits the bill perfectly. I'll probably use Quickmouse till the day my Amiga or me dies, just for this feature. What do you think? How about this in the next DMOUSE? Joel Swan

Hmm, how big are your hands?? I can do it with my pinky and index... I prefer the intuition set up...A-N brings you to the workbench and A-M cycles you through screens. But...if you find your hands are too small... :-) Actually, I hve a program I like better than Dmouse, and better than any other "mouse accelerator". It's called ClockDJ. It adds these features: Constand clock, mem and fastmem display that can be placed whereever you wish on the screen (it can be moved, and you may save the default position to disk( I keep mine on the screen title bar just to the left of the front to back gadgets, and I have coordinated teh screen colors to match, it looks like it's a part of my term program and I LOVE being able to see that info instantly. Screen blanker...may be set for 5,10,15,20, etc minutes of mouse and keyboard inactivty. Very handy. Mouse blanker...I like this alot, it makes the mouse pointer go away if you don't move the mouse for a set interval, I keep mine at 10 seconds...so I only have a pointer when I need one, very nice when you are doing alot of text work... Sun Mouse...this makes whatever window your pointer is over automatically activeinstead of needing to be clicked on. And now....the best feature and the one that you need... SCREEN POPPING All you do is hold down the right hand button and then click the left hand button and it will cycle one screen (just like pushing A-M). This might sound strange but it is a really nifty idea. I use this constantly. Another nifty feature...simply click on any exposed portion of a window and it pops to the front...you no longer have to move stuff aroudn to get at the gadgets, in fact...I wish I could get rid of my gadgets... oh and another feature...if you find your screen is getting cluttered with windows and want one out of the way for a bit...hold down Ctr-Shift-LeftAmiga and press the left hand mousebutton..and it pops out of existence, press the right button and it comes back. There's more but I've taken enough space already. Clock DJ is available by ftp from Helsinki and I think Xanth (128.214.1.1 and 128.82.8.1 resp.) >I'll probably use Quickmouse till the day my Amiga or me dies, just for this >feature. > >What do you think? Speaking of clocks, I' ve lost track of all the latest time piece, screen blanker, mouse accelerator utils that the Amiga has been blessed with. Can someone post a list of current clock utils for Amy? Right now I'm quite content with MachII 2.5 and gizmoz's quickmouse accelerator. I just acquired screen text clipper called "snapit" (not to be confused with snipit). This has got to be the ultimate Amigados. CLI tool. It works even better than Snipit in that it will recognize ANY font setting in any SCREEN. I was able to grab dinky 132 column text from a terminal into my texteditor with a few mouse clicks. There's tons of neato little options. If anyone wish, I can ftp it to say, xanth.cs.odu.edu if they don't have it already. -Viet
