[comp.sys.amiga] Populous Hinta

Hint 1

I just happened to discover a sneaky technique that lets me really pound
the computer. When my knight walks over to the enemy lands. I put him
on the screen and use raise land till there is a huge mountain. When he
moves a little, I put a mountain there too. With just a little work, I
can turn the whole enemy's land into mountains.

This has the following effects:

Severly curtails enemy manna production.
Kills a lot of people in desert and ice worlds.
Gets a lot of the population moving. May be good or bad.

Hint 2

When I'm in the "mop up" stage of the game, I also follow my knights around
and help them out by drowning as many enemies as possible. You have to lower
4 squares of land into the water to do this. This technique speeds up the
endgame quite a bit.

Hint 3

Drown enemy knights as in technique 2. Sometimes the computer saves them
quickly. Usually if you're persistent you can drown em even with high
reaction time set.

I don't know if these techniques will work in really hard levels (I'm
up to 75). Maybe I won't use them just to make things more even.

Populous is a wonderful game. You can bet they're working on Populous II.

This doesn't work if the 'build only on towns' is set (on some worlds
well below number 75).

As above, and not usually if 'water harmful'.

As above.
