[comp.sys.amiga] When did that happen?

gheff@hubcap.clemson.edu (Gary R Heffelfinger) (11/15/89)

In my best Rip van Winkle fashion, I just awoke from a many month
slumber to notice that DRAM prices have dropped virtually through the
floor. I've been limping along with 1M for a good while now while 1Mx1
parts languished at $30+ each. Now I note that several mail order places
offer the 8UP and the Supra boards with 2M installed for ~$350. (I'm
sure that Abel has them for even less, but who wants to wait for 6
months? :-( )

How about emailing me your experiences with either the Microbotics or
Supra boards for the 2000. I'm especially interested in hearing from
those of you who also have Pacific Peripherals Overdrive cards.

Thanks.

Gary

Aaaarrrgghhh!!! Why do they have to E-mail the responses?!?

I am also VERY interested in the information - why can't it be
posted here for all to see? There must be others interested too...

Could everyone who has information on this please post it? Thanks!

I own a Pacific Peripherals Overdrive hardcard in my 2000. For a
while, I also had an ASDG RAM board installed. But when I upgraded to
Fat Agnus, this combination resulted in many hard disk read/write errors
and a corrupted hard disk.

My dealer replaced the ASDG board with a Supra board (8 MB capacity).
I currently have 4 MB RAM installed on the Supra board, and together
with the Pacific Peripherals Overdrive hardcard, I have had no
problems since--this combination works fine with the Fat Agnus.

I recommend both the Supra RAM card and the PP Overdrive--both give
reasonable performance for reasonable prices.

BTW, I'm still trying to sell my original ASDG RAM board to anyone who
doesn't intend to use it together with an Overdrive--any takers? No
reasonable offer refused!
