[comp.sys.amiga] 1.5 MB on new A500

olivier@hpgnd.HP.COM (Olivier BORDES) (11/22/89)

From a friend who cannot access Notes:
-------------------------------------

On the new AMIGA 500, it is possible to install 512K of additional
memory on the main board. By keeping the extension card A501 the total
amount of memory should be 1.5 Mb. Unfortunately after having installed
the 4 additional chips on the main board my Amiga continue to see only
1 Mb (with the A501 card).
Do you know if something special has to be done (hardware configuration
change, software to install...) ?

For your information the Gary chip is a 8372 (new version) and the PC
boards layout is different of the hardware schematics shipped with the
product.
By default the extended memory is mapped in C00 000. If you change J2
position to map it in 019 000 then the 1Mb on board are seen but if
you plug the A501 board there is no change.

Any information is welcome, thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards
Jacques D
