[comp.sys.amiga] CLI Window Size - how do I change it?

doug@cbnewsh.ATT.COM (douglas.sulpy) (11/18/89)

It would be nice not to have to drag and pull a freshly opened CLI
window each time I open one. Can someone tell me how to get the
window to automatically fill the screen upon opening? Thanks!

Two solutions:

1) get ConMAN and use the function key (F2) to resize the window conveniently,

2) use FullWindow in your :s/startup-sequence.

Because it's so small, I've enclosed the docs for FullWindow and a uuencoded
ZOO of FullWindow. Enjoy!

FullWindow : Another Hot Stuff from me...

This program is written due to the problem I encountered on my CLI window.
The problem is that I am using MoreRows so that my Screen size is 26x82, but
on the startup, AmigaDos only gives me a standard window. I hate to resize it
all the times. Also if you guys using Interlace mode, you will encounter the
same problem, the CLI window only half the height. Don't you also hate to
resize it all the times ?

Usage: FullWindow [tasknumber]

[tasknumber] is the CLI task number, default to current CLI you are in.

Upon invoking the program, it will move the appropiate window to the upper
left corner and it will resize the window the the FULL screen.

example: FullWindow -> resizes up current window
FullWindow 3 -> resizes up task 3 window
FullWindow ? -> will give the usage

If you like it and use it, smile... I am happy. However I will be happier
if you give me a support. It is springtime, you know....

The easy way to do it is this. Open your workbench window and click once
on the shell or CLI icon. Then select INFO from the menu. You'll get a
screen which displays information on the tool. Click ADD in the TOOLS
string gadget and type "WINDOW=CON:0/0/640/256/CLI". (No quotes!) The
two 0's are the top left corner x & y and the 640/256 is the width and
height. The last item is the title. If you want spaces in the title then
you must put quotes around the "CON:...CLI" bit.
Glad to be of help :-)

Try this:

     newcli con:x/y/w/h/name

Where
x = number of pixels from left edge of screen to left edge of window
y = number of pixels from top edge of screen to top edge of window
w = width of window, in pixels
h = height of window, in pixels
name = a text string to use as a label in the title-bar of the window

This same method also works for the newcon: handler, and is supported by ASH.
For example, I use

     ashell newcon:0/75/550/125/Chelloveck

to open new CLI windows.
