[comp.sys.amiga] Latest version of Ultracard?

PROVERO@wsmr-simtel20.army.mil (Josh Rovero) (11/23/89)

A friend locally has version 1.2.2 of Ultracard and is still experiencing
*lots* of problems. Is there a later version on the street yet?

The latest version of UltraCard (as of Today) is 1.4.5.

New (supposedly better)documentation is available for $10
plus S&H from Intuitive Technologies and the ascii text is supposedly
going to be available for download from their BBS (408)-373-4018
RSN.

My personal experience with this product and company have
been rather poor. The initial commercial release (1.1.1) was bugg ridden
slow, had lousy documentation, and a reasonable price ($50.00). Their
support is sporadic and not real well organized. I had four phone calls
to their answering machine go unanswered.I know the author (Mike Lehman)
was having some personal problems at the time...but he did not tell
us so by altering the message on the answering machine or leaving a msg on the
BBS. He IS running a BUSINESS. It took 4.5 weeks to get the new version,
he had promised 2. It took 3 months to get a version that would not
crash every five minutes. I think the product has potential, but that
is all so far. It does not run on my 1000 with hard disk and 1MB
RAM (about 700K free) because the executable is @250K and seems to take
about 300K for dynamic data structures and screens and windows etc...

	So, my reccomendations are :

	1) if you already own UC download the new version from their BBS,
you have a bat's chance in hades getting it in any decent
		time frame via the mail

	2) if you don't already own it - wait until version 2.0 comes out.

	3) in any case, take a look at CanDo, it might be a more
		stable and professionally supported package.
