I need help figuring out why a SUPRA SCSI host adapter isn't working with a MiniScribe SCSI drive. The SCSI host adapter is a SUPRA WordSync. The MiniScribe drive is model 3180S (180 megs unformatted, 17 ms. access time). The symptom of the problem is that while booting off the SupraBOOT floppy the computer hangs when I set the host adapter to *not* AutoBoot. When I set the host adapter to AutoBoot the screen stays blank when I try to boot off of any floppy. I tried booting of the 1.3 Workbench floppy and then executing SupraFormat as a separate program. In this case SupraFormat displays a WAIT message and then hangs forever (or at least for the 25 minutes I waited for it to return). I do have a Kickstart 1.3 ROM in this machine (and the 4.5 revision motherboard). Any theories on what is going wrong here? One thought was that maybe SupraFormat needs to know what kind of controller and drive you are using before it is invoked? I noticed before I got the WAIT message that hung the machine that both the controller and drive types were specified as "Other". Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Will (sun!portal!cup.portal.com!Will)
