Last week I asked the accumlated net-knowledge when and if hardrives would be supported in AMAX. My thanks to all who answered. Although the major points were covered by folks posting there answers rather than e-mailing them, figured I'd post the accumulated wisdom for all to share: AMAX works NOW if you have a trumpcard. Apparently theres a software patch you have to install on the MAC side that allows this to work. Apparently there's a shareware program available to do this, and from the looks of the lastest Trumpcards adds either the manufacturer is supplieing this or another patch. Ther's (said to be) an article in Vol 3, Issue 1 of "Amiga Sentry" (Aside to whomever asked "Doesn't anyone on Usenet read Amiga Sentry?" Some of us have better things to do with our time than read every Amiga mag that comes out. My reading stack is big enough as it, thank you. And just 'cause you haven't seen an answer posted yet doesn't mean the answer hasn't been supplied by e-mail. I'd got half a dozen replies before you posted yours :) :) :) ) As for those of us that didn't have the foresight to by a trumpcard, apparently ReadySoft is hard at work trying to support other interfaces. The accumulated respones sound pretty encouraging. Apparently, a bunch of people have asked, and gotten the same answer. "We working on it, we're working on it!". Seem like they want to do it right before releasing it.. which sounds good to me. Dates people mentioned were "early next year, the spring, and March". Controllers people mentioned were the 2090/2091, trumpcard, Compsec, GVP, and Supra. So, sounds like we'll all just have to be patient a few more months. Heck, we've all survived without Mac comptability this long, haven't we :) -nick wilde (wilde@tigger.colorado.edu)
