I am interested in hearing information from anyone who owns or used MetaComco Pascal 2.0 . In Israel, many PC software packages are written in Turbo Pascal. In order to ease the porting of some of these sofwtare packages, we are interested in distributing MetaComco Pascal 2.0, or any Modula-2 compiler. we just haven't decided what would be the best of them for our purpose. Since 90% of the software development here was done in Turbo Pascal, C is out of the question. we use C ourselves, but we want to encourage PC oriented companies to port some of their software for the Amiga. We plan to use one of the above compilers, and write a graphic library which will be compatible with the graphic library supplied for Turbo Pascal. The most important factor is how easy it would be for these PC company to port their software for the Amiga. nothing else. Should we go for Metacomco pascal 2.0, or one of the Modula-2 compilers ( since TP 5.0 supports units, I have reasons to beleive that Modula-2 will be more suite for the job, but it will enforce these companies to port their code from Pascal to Modula-2. Is there an automatic translator from Pascal to Modula-2 ?? ). I'm interested in hearing from anyone who use Metacomco Pascal 2.0 . How good is the Amiga OS support ( shared library access, etc. ). how hard is it to add external libraries? Please try replying by mail, since our usenet link down 90% of the time.. I will summarise the replies and post the results. Udi ( finkel@taurus.BITNET ).
