[comp.sys.amiga] This announcement is \really/ Mickey Mouse!

greg@noel.CTS.COM (J. Gregory Noel) (12/07/89)

It looks like WordPerfect Corp is not the only big player in the Amiga market
any more; I just got this in the mail. The address label clearly came from
a mailing list, but I have no idea which mailing list it was. The letter and
the envelope both have a little picture of our favorite mouse on it, and there
are a lot of small details that make me think it's not a joke.

---------- letter from mail

		IN FEBRUARY, YOUR FAVORITE ANIMATION
		    PROGRAM WILL BECOME OBSOLETE

The Walt Disney Company's animators have joined forces with Disney's software
designers to create the most exciting and innovative computer animation
program ever!

In February, Disney will unveil its latest masterpiece as:

		    DISNEY Software presents...
			THE ANIMATION STUDIO

Developed by Silent Software for the Amiga, Disney's ...The Animation Studio
is the first computer package to provide an easy-to-use interface with
techniques based on feature film animation. Features include onion skin
technology, full paint function, Disney animation tutorials, and a library
of Disney character and background art.

With ...The Animation Studio, Disney makes it possible for you to create
beautiful animation in the finest tradition of the art.

		    DISNEY Software presents...
			THE ANIMATION STUDIO

It could \only/ come from Disney.

---------- end letter

My only comment is that if they used their software to generate the picture of
Mickey, it still needs improvement -- Mickey has a bad case of the jaggies.

I have seen that animation program demoed with the working title "Onion".
I was very impressed with its capabilities and it was apparently a very old
version. Unless it is outrageously priced, I plan to pick it up right away.

Is this otherwise known as "Onion"?
