The thread on using the MS-DOS variety drive for the AMY captured my attention since I am interested in adding a second floppy to my 2000HD. When PC-Patch and CrossDos came out there was some discussion about not being able to read the 1.4MB MS-DOS format. Was this attributed to the hardware limitations of the AMIGA drive or due to other internal limits? If it was purely a drive restriction I would be interested in adding the 1.4MB version. So my question boils down to these point - - 1. Will a MS-DOS 3 1/2" drive work well as DF1:? Any particular brand/ style to get or avoid? 2. Will the 1.4MB drive work reliably as df1:? 3. Which, if any, of the MS-Dos to Amiga-DOS tools can process a 1.4MB disk? How do you get the drive/software to recognize the proper density? 4. Is the installation any different than an AMIGA specific drive? 5. Have I overlooked any pitfalls or future problems? Thanks for the information. Regards, Jerry.
