[comp.sys.amiga] Discovery Software???

hagerp@iuvax.cs.indiana.edu (12/13/89)

I am trying to track down Discovery Software, the company that
makes Marauder II. My manual gives addresses and phone numbers
but phone numbers have been disconnected and there is no
listing for the Wyndmoor, PA address. If they no longer exist,
who is writing software to break copy protection?

As a matter of principal, I refuse to by copy protected software
because it's a pain to backup and run. I just bought a piece of
software that the dealer guaranteed was NOT protected only to
find out that the dealer was in error when I got it home.

Any help will be appreciated.

Discovery Software stopped making parameter files for Marauder II about 2? yearsago. I think they are still in business though.

As for archiving your purchased programs either Project D or RawCopy should
suffice. There was/is also a PD nibble copier out that was supposedly to go
commercial, but I haven't heard anything about that one in awhile. I think
it was NIB. It was the only program I found to back-up Dungeon Master.

Yes, Discovery (@#$%&^) Software is still around. They moved to
Annapolis, Maryland about 2-3 years ago. hagerp, if you're interested
just call 1 (301) 555-1212 and say, "In Annapolis, I'd like the number
for Discovery Software, please." Sorry, I don't have their new number
handy nor is it in my phone book because I'm not that close to Annapolis.

Yes, ol' DS dropped out of the copy protection breakin, made their own
``unbreakable'' CP, and used it on their own game software. DS figured
they'd make more money selling writing games than preaching the "Just
say No to Piracy" sermon and still producing psychodelic copy programs.
