[comp.sys.amiga] 68010 problems

If you really want something to complain about, let them know that none
of their software works with a 68010. This is really obnoxious because
their grind-the-drive protection doesn't allow Deci-gel to be used.

I'm getting rather tired with the games that Psygnosis has released. All
of look very nice, but the game play on all of them is rather slow and
tedious. They would be nice games if there was some snap in their
response, but the joystick seems to be connected to the program via a
bowl of mush.

Fix68010 changes the MOVE,SR (or whatever it is) instruction to one more
easily digestible by 010/020+ systems. It modifies the executable. It also
seems to modify DATA in these programs that looks like the MOVE instruction.
I had a number of programs that would fail on my 020, work fine if I executed
deciGEL, and go BONKERS if I Fix68010'd them. I'd recommend staying away from
Fix68010.

Of course, I have no idea what your original problem is. If SimCity works fine,
then it IS booting. Just try running deciGEL as one of the first items in
your Startup-Sequence. And delete all the programs you Fix68010'd and go back
to the originals.

I recently installed a 68010 in my A500 on a whim, but I couldn't
get the thing to boot untill I removed Dmouse (v1.10 I think), Noclick v3.5,
mackie, and replaced my ARP commands with Amiga DOS commands. Running Fix68010
didn't even help, should I expect it to? Any 68010 owners had any success with
these programs? Thanks for any suggestions/comments,

Bob, I have had a 68010 installed in my Amiga 1000 for about a year now, with
NO problems whatsoever... I run DMouse, Arp commands, MyMenu, etc. BUT, NOT
'mackie' and/or Noclick v3.5, methinks one of these might be the REAL
culprit..... as an aside, I have only had 2 programs TOTALLY fail to work
with the 68010, Falcon and Transformer, I have recently gotten the scenerio
disk for Falcon and NOW it works, and R'YKandar (sorry for the munging of
your name... ;-) ) sent me a fix for Transformer that works flawlessly
(which by the by R'YKandar, when is the 'real'/totally finished one going
to be posted for everyone else?) The only other game I can NOT get to
work currently is Blasteroids, I borrowed my friends copy (he has a stock
2000) which worked fine, but on MY computer, after the opening screen, it
loads a little, then seems to TRY and turn off the HIGH-Pass filter...
(MY theory, as the power light goes dim...) then OFF to the GURU! Any ideas
folks?

Well, sorry for the SLIGHT change in topic, it DID have to do with the 68010
and, yes the GURU is *NOT* '8' when Blasteroids dies...

Anyway Bob, check removing those 2 programs, then re-adding Arp, and DMouse,
and see what happens....
