[comp.sys.amiga] amiga configurations, and another query

quasar@krazykat.ctt.bellcore.com (Laurence R. Brothers) (12/16/89)

I asked for the ideal amiga configuration for animation,
considering both hardware and software. Thanks to Michael A. Wiggins for
his input, by the way.

Oddly enough, I didn't get any suggestions about an amiga 3000.

One ideal machine configuration seems to be an amiga 2000 with maximal
memory -- one suggestion was 16MB. A 68030 with the 68882 coprocessor,
a lot of hard disk -- one suggestion was a removable drive, namely the
SyQuest 44M drive, considering that animation uses a lot of space.

As for software, suggestions for drawing and painting ware included:

Deluxe Paint 3, Photon Paint 2, and Digi-Paint 3. For 3d images and
ray tracing, the suggestion was for Scult-Animate 4D or Turbo Silver.

It was noted that a professional quality vcr would be required for
real animation, and also that these go for ungodly prices compared to
the rest of the system.

Ok, now are there any specific suggestions for the best hard drives?
Let's say in the 60-80M range, and also in the 200-300M range.

Also: Is there anyone sufficiently knowledgeable to compare the
pending Atari TT with various amiga configurations? I DON'T want to
hear any sort of flaming. The TT would have to have unique
capabilities for me to consider it, considering the total absence of
atari dealers in the NYC area, but I don't want to miss any bets....

Thanks,
