Professor Schickele is at it again, with the latest set of collected works by P.D.Q. Bach. This album contains three works: A Little Nightmare Music, (S. 13) which is an opera in one act in which P.D.Q. is the butler on the night that Mozard died, Octoot (S. 8) for wind instruments, and the Royal Firewater Musick (S. 1/5). All works are done by Schickele conducting the New York Pick-Up Ensemble. This is very much an average album. He doesn't break new ground, but rehashes many of the things done on previous albums (Octoot is big on double reeds without instruments, for example). If you like P.D.Q. Bach, you probably want this for your collection, but there are much better albums out there. -- From behind the bar at Callahan's: Chuq Von Rospach {amd70,fortune,hplabs,menlo70}!nsc!chuqui (408) 733-2600 x242 It's not easy having a good time.
