Hello, I am going to purchase a hard disk for my Amiga 500. I have want a economical solution and in the last issue of Amigaworld I saw the SupraDrive/500 selling for $440.00 shipped with a 20 meg disk and software and power supply. The disk is also autoboot and comes with 2 software disks. Does anyone have any opinions on the Supra/500 drive? And has anyone had any problems with 7 Day software? I am either going to order from them for $440.00 including shipping or Go Amiga! for $479.00 excluding shipping. If you could mail a reply to me I would be indebted to you Since I frequently miss replies to me in rn, thanks. -Mike Call Datacomm Network BBS, 5 nodes - 500+ megs - PCBoard Relay - ABBS

I found my problems with the Supra ByteSync 500 SCSI controller, were in fact my (used) drive not having terminating resistors on it (~200ohms to +5V). Once I got some to try, the Interface recognized the drive and the software all ran fine, and yes I could Autoboot. The diskperfs were comparable to the A590 which I had purchased because I needed a working system right away. Reads at high buffer sizes may be better. (I compared with the same SCSI drive, not the drive internal to the A590 which of course was slower and I didn't have time to tweak parameters for the best results). I now have a spare controller with 2M of RAM. I prefer the styling/arrangement of the A590. So I'd like to sell the Supra... It cost me ~$440 with the 2M SupraRAM, any offers??? You'd need a power supply and SCSI drive, and a cabinet for the drive, etc. email to: eberger@b.psc.edu -Ed Berger
