[ Feed mmdf@udel.EDU to the lineeater!!! ] Hello, I am nearing purchase of a Microway Flicker-Fixer. So, naturally, I am looking at multiscan monitors. I saw a Princeton Ultrasync 12" monitor today. It looked great. How well does it work with the FF? Also, I saw the Sony CPD 1302 and 1304 monitors. What is the difference between them (aside from the $30 price difference?) How well do they work with the FF? Do you recommend any other multiscanning monitor? Why? Thanks, -- Jim Pritchett UUCP: {attctc|texbell}!letni!caleb!jdp

Do you >recommend any other multiscanning monitor? Why? > Jim Pritchett I have recently purchased a NEC Multisync 3D. It is fantastic!! The best things about it are: 1. 1024x768 resolution. But it can be adjusted to most sizes fron 320x200 on up. (more about this later) 2. Price. $599 at USA Flex. (Look in the back of computer shopper.) 3. Adjustability. It can be adjusted from the front panel for brightness, contrast, screen size (horizontal and vertical) and screen position (left-right and up-down). It also scans vertically from 15.?? to 38.?? Khz and horizontally from 50-80 Hz. 4. Crisp, small dot pitch -- not as small as the Sony's but for $100 bucks the .02mm wasn't worth it. (NEC 3D is .28 mm, Sony 1304 is .26mm I think). 5. Color is good. works well with my stuff. Weaknesses: 1. It is EXTREMELY susceptible to magnetic interference. When I first got it connected, there was dark spot in one corner of the screen -- barely noticable, but still there. It turned out that in my desk, in the drawer under the monitor I had a magnet (a little Bar magnet, but still fairly powerful) that I sometimes use to erase "bad" (ie. naughty) floppies. When I moved the magnet to the other side of the desk the dark spot went away (after a couple of hours). -------------- No more weaknesses for me -------------------------------------- Basically I wanted a monitor that I could grow into, with higher resolution than my current needs, because who knows what will be available next week? Next I needed one under $600 (my wife has needs too :-) ). Finally, I wanted one that looked good with my current equipment. I would say I got more than I had hoped for with this NEC 3D. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ |The views expressed herein, are the sole responsibility of the typist at hand| +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ |USNail: UUCP: | |2323 Wells Branch Pkwy., #G107 cs.utexas.edu!romp!ibmchs!auschs\ | |Austin, TX 78728 !sabre.austin.ibm.com!robin | |Home: (512)251-6889 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^<-MUST BE INCLUDED| +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
