[comp.sys.amiga] rexxserdev.library

akcs.dfrancis@tronsbox.UUCP (Dennis Francis Heffernan) (12/19/89)

Seem to be having trouble with rexxserdev.library version 2- it won't
open the library, no matter what I do. This is the one by Joe Stivaletta-
does anyone know of any other programs permitting arexx to access the serial
port?
My ultimate aim- and please holler if you know it won't work or there's
an easier way- is to use rexx to dial for VLT. It is regrettably not as
simple as sending EMIT commands to VLT, as VLT has no way of telling rexx
how the attempted call turned out, as far as I can tell. (Yes, I'm a rank
novice.) It seems that I need something to let rexx get at the serial port,
or I need to use another language (aaaaauuuggghhhh!!! I barely know rexx!)

I tried to write some Marcos once, but they only worked on ATalk. :-)

I just use VLT scripts to do the dialing. It is not the greatest
way of doing things, but it works. I just have a bunch a VLT Marcos,
one for each BBS I call, and it will dial and login for me. They can not
do any error checking to see of you really got connected, etc. If you are
interested I can send you some example scripts.

While I am using up nettime, could someone send me a copy of the
distribution of 'rexxserdev.library'. This is th first I have heard of
this beast, and would like to play with it.
