(nice after you get the gun if you take a few hits in the process) > Oh yeah! It sure is an INCREDIBLE looking game. I picked one up at the world of commodore for 38 canadian. The game looked fantastic on the big screen there. The graphics were incredible during the load. The sound was echoing in mellephulious harmonies. We (me and me friends) did lot's o OOHING and AWWING while it loaded, and cranked up the sound to earth-shattering levels. I was not dissapointed when this incredible feat of graphical wizzardry started. We jumped. OOOHHH AHHHH. We danced. AHHH OOOHHH. We walked over to the side of the screen, where this detailed well thing appeared, and ..and.... and... I've got an A1000, with 2 megs. 68010. Nothing fancy. But so far, NONE OF THE PSYGNOSIS PROGRAMS I'VE EVER TRIED HAVE WORKED. Since it takes NO BRAINPOWER to make a program comply with a 68010 in most respects, this is just un-excusable. What about Amiga 2500's? And all the speed up cards? The copy-protection on this game is so far out that we managed to crash it twice just loading it up. And when it CRASHES, BOY does it CRASH! The orchestrated drive shamble-grinds, the screen blitzing, the funny squeals coming from who knows where. The dust flying out of the fan. I give Psygnosis credit in one respect: Their crashes are always the most phenominal around. I tried several things like running the boot-recoverable privelege handler (DeciGEl replacement), but of course, they just take over the machine. DESPARATE PLEA: Come on you psygnosis pig heads. Use your minds. Think a bit. Try testing your software on other amiga's and configurations. Then, atleast say SOMEWHERE on/in/around/near the package that it won't work on certain systems. Sounds REASONABLE eh? This is the most unstable game I've ever seen. I can't even get mine to boot on stock Amigas. I sent the disks back but I don't expect to see anything returned. I already have a well worded reply to the programmers' note in the manual threatening that this is the last game they will do unless Amiga (and ST) piracy stops. As far as I can see, they (actually Psygnosis) are the pirates. They stole my thirty five bucks! The fact that the word Psygnosis is a game may end up hurting it more than any piracy since most people won't by it in the first place no matter how good it may be. I never thought I'd long for the days of "look up word" copy protection. Rather than us and like minded others using up more space in c.s.a I urge anyone who wishes please send me a note which I will forward with mine to Psynosis. Send me a note even if its unreasoned and frothing. The irony is that it is going to be cracked in about a month. The ones who suffer are the legitimate puchasers. Let's have games that are affordable and whose success on the market is based on how good they are. I actually don't mind some of the mild copy protection that is out there, especially as the Amiga increases its unsophisticated mass-market base. Please send any comments, however long or brief, that you wish included. -- Jimmy Liberato ...!amdahl!drivax!liberato

Well, I'll mention one thing that I put on the net once before.... I bought Obilterator, Blood Money, and Ballistix and my conclusion about Psygnosis games is that they have great graphics, great sound, and little or no playability. I will never, ever buy another Psygnosis game. Maybe they don't realize that it's the lousy software, not the pirates that're responsible for the bad sales of late.... This game has kept me from doing "more important" things for the past 4 days. :-p Pbbbblllttt!!! Blood Money is (IMHO) a great game, Obliterator is fun once you get the hang of it, and I'll admit Ballitsix is a little too wierd to be much fun. The only real problem I have with Psygnosis games (in general) is the LONG waits they make you endure between ending one game and starting another (and booting up in the first place). But if you don't like Blood Money, I suggest you try another genre of games... maybe pick up a copy of Dungeon Master? -- James A. Here's a little Beast puzzle someone may know something about. When you first boot up, there are two coloured bottles at the top right where your keys etc appear. Any ideas what they are? #------------------------------------------------------------------------------# # If you're of the opinion that if anything CAN go wrong it WILL go wrong, you # # may think you're paranoid. Naaah...paranoia is thinking that if something # # CAN'T go wrong it will still go wrong. # # (Attributed to J.Gold in one of his optimistic moods) # #------------------------------------------------------------------------------# # J.Gold | mapjilg@uk.ac.bath.gdr # # University of Bath | jilg@uk.ac.bath.maths # # UK | # #------------------------------------------------------------------------------#
