Hi netter, Last night my A500 caught a virus. I don't think its a new kind but I would like to hear what people have to tell me about it. First, I know this has been discussed recently but then I didn't have 1) a hard drive and 2) ftp access. The virus infected my SETPATCH by changing it from 3xxx bytes to 5xxx bytes long. It showed up by guruing w/ 0000000B.00C06298 whatever that is. I don't know what program gave me the virus. I was working with some stuff I'ld gotten from the fish disks at mrcnext.cso.uiuc.edu. It could have been them or a time release from somewhere else. What I'd like is to hear more about were it may have come from, how to make sure it's gone, comment, etc. Please E-mail since this is probably old stuff to most of you. I'll post a summary if there is any interest. I had virusX 3.2 which didn't catch it and virusx 4.0 didn't see anything wrong with the disk after the fact. Thanks, Brian ( I was panicing for a while but I'm better now! ) -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brian Gragg briang@sdd.hp.com hp-sdd!briang uunet!ucsd!hp-sdd!briang -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
