wally@pallas.UUCP (Wally Hartshorn) (01/09/90)
I'm looking into getting a new DTP package for myself and would like to hear people's thoughts about what is out there. I currently am using PageSetter, but it is borrowed from a friend, so that has little impact upon my upgrade plans. ProPage and PageStream are the ones I hear the most about, but I have recently seen ads for PageSetter II and Saxon Publishing. I am using an A1000 with 3 floppy drives, 2.5Meg of RAM, and a Star NX-10 9-pin printer. I have a 2400 baud modem which I can use to upload PostScript files to a 300 DPI PostScript printer. My primary use would be for producing the newsletter for the local shire of the SCA (a medieval recreation group). Dot matrix output would be acceptable, but I would prefer PostScript, especially if someone could point me to some affordable PostScript fonts with a medieval style. Most of the output will be text, of course, but there will be some B&W artwork included. I am not an artist, so the artwork will need to be either manually pasted in (ick!), digitized, or scanned. Please reply via mail. I'll post a summary. -- Wally (uunet!pallas!wally or wally@athenanet.com) This article is 100% public domain. If you can make $$$ off of it, more power to you. :-)
