ansok@stsci.EDU (Gary) (01/11/90)
I have an Amiga 500 that I am planning to expand to 1 Meg of memory soon (having a clock will be nice, too). I seem to recall that there was some discussion here recently that for a new 500, you could not simply order one by mail and plug it into a slot yourself; there were apparently some jumpers or something requiring it to be done by a dealer. Can someone send me a summary indicating: 1) How can you tell which A500's are the "new" ones? (I purchased mine in July 89) 2) What has to be done to expand an A500 to 1 Meg? 3) Recommendations on brands for the expansion (should I just go with the Commodore board -- A501, I think -- or are there better ones?) Please e-mail to me, and then I'll summarize all the summaries I get :-). Thanks in advance! Gary Ansok ansok@stsci.{edu,bitnet} Send in your nominations for "Man of the Millenium"!
