In light of all the "Don't buy from this company" postings, I thought I would share my experience with KOEI. First of all, they are the best company I have had the pleasure of dealing with. I recently bought Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It was recomended by a friend as a very realistic simulation ancient China, but at the $60 asking price, it had a lot to live up to. I took it home, started a few wars with neighboring generals, raped the country side, and generally tried out as many of the options as I could (without reading the 110 page manual, of course :-). Anyway, I discovered the Recruit option did not work. Out came the manual. After some intense reading, I tried it again, and again it did not work. The next day (Friday), I called their number. The gentleman who answered was pleasant and appeared to be very informed. After taking my name and address, he promised I'd get a replacement for disk A (the one causing the problem) as soon as possible. I know, I know. You're thinking this was too easy and the guy on the phone was a professional con man. HOWEVER...this came in the mail today: reproduced entirely without permission --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear User: Enclosed with this letter please find an A disk for Romance Of The Three Kingdoms, Amiga version. Please use it instead of the A disk originally supplied with your program. If you have installed Romance of the Three Kingdoms to a hard disk, please reinstall it with the enclosed disk. The difficulty you have been experiencing with command 5, Recruit, is due to a piece of code inadvertently left out when the original A disk was duplicated. This disk will correct that problem. Your original B disk is usable with this new A disk. Please accept our most sincere apologies for the problems you have en- countered with this product. KOEI strives to maintain a high level of quality control. However, we made an error in this case. Your under- standing and forgiveness would be much appreciated. Should you have any questions please feel free to call us at (415)348-0500. Sincerely, KOEI Corporation --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I must say, I will not hesitate to purchase future products from KOEI. This is a company truly worthy of support. P.S. For those of you who have read this far, I managed to get some info on future Amiga products from the guy on the phone. He said Gengis Khan should be out by June, and that they are working on three more Amiga packages, but he wasn't allowed to say what they are. -=*=--=*=--=*=--=*=--=*=--=*=--=*=--=*=--=*=--=*=--=*=--=*=--=*=--=*=--=*=- Mike Conca, Computer Science Dept. * conca@handel.cs.colostate.edu Colorado State University * conca@129.82.102.32 'Back off man - I understand computers!'
