I was messing with the sound files from the "NewTek Demo Reel 3"
today, using Perfect Sound (V3.0).
On the first disk, there is a file called "rewind". When played, it
sounds like an audio tape being re-wound, i.e. real fast "chipmonk"
talk.
If you load that sound into Perfect Sound, flip the entire envelope,
and reduce the playback rate to about 6000/sec, you get a woman's
voice saying:
"I am not a Bimbo"
Also, has anyone noticed that NewTek "borrowed" "video" from
"Computer Dreams" (the toaster) and "2001 - A Space Oddesy".
They also got some audio from 2001 ("Open the pod bay doors Hal").
They have copyrights on the whole demo, but I wonder if they
have the rights to use the "borrowed" material.

Interestingly enough, "I am not a bimbo" is reputedly what's outside of the office of Laura Longfellow, a.k.a. Maxine Headroom, if anyone remembers back that far. After all those digitized pictures of her gnawing on pencils and giving sultry stares, one would understand her desire to vindicate herself thus. She's also plastered on the new DigiPaint III ad. NewTek knows when it has a hit.
