For Christmas Santa got me a Xetec FastTrak with a Quantum 100. When I first began to use it, my Amiga 500 would randomly crash or hang. (Most of the time by simply dragging an icon). I think the problem was a loose A501 Memory Expansion because the problems went away when I reseated the A501. Now, the current problem. My machine worked fine until I installed the Fatter Agnus chip and a new CIA (U7) chip. (My brother hit JOY 2 with static electricity and _FIRE1 wouldn't respond anymore). I installed the CIA first and tested the machine for three days; everything seemed ok. I then installed the Fatter Agnus chip. Upon the first boot up, the power light blinked in a continuous GURU sequence without anything on the screen (gray screen). I then booted off floppies without any problems. I brought dh0: and dh1: partitions back from the dead by using BindDrivers. The machine worked fine so I warm booted with Control-Amiga-Amiga. Everything worked fine. Later I find out that EVERYTIME I cold boot, I either get the constant power light blinking (6 blinks) or I get: Software Failure #00000004.00001970 The sequence I have to get my Amiga running: 1) turn monitor and Hard drive on 2) wait 10 seconds 3) turn computer on -- (GURU's or Software Failure) 4) shut computer off 5) wait 5 seconds 6) turn computer on (everything's fine) info: A500, A501, Xetec FastTrak (2MEG memory), Quantum 100 (auto park) Fatter Agnus, KS 1.3 Any Ideas? Thanks in advance. -John Antonishek ant@cmr.ncsl.nist.gov Ps. Avail indicates that the Fatter Agnus is present.
