I posted a similar article last week about this problem, but I only posted it locally. I got no responses, so here I go again: I ordered a Tiny Tiger Budget Drive from Memory and Storage Technology (M.A.S.T) in Sparks, NV. It's a 30M drive, and was adveritised as "Plug In And Go". I have an Amiga 1000, and once I finally got it (they took about 2 months to get it to me), I plugged it in, and it *didn't* go. I kept getting a "Not A DOS device" requestor. I called the tech support number at MAST, and they told me that there was a compatability problem on the 1000's. They said that 3 capacitors on the parallel port needed to be replaced, because they were screwing up the communication between the drive and the computer (the drive plugs into the parallel port). Originally, they were just telling people to clip the leads on the capacitors, but now they're saying they'll send out a kit with the correct capacitors, and instructions on how to replace them. It seems to me if a product is advertised as "PLUG IN AND GO", and then the company tells you to modify the hardware on your box to make it GO, AFTER you've bought the product, something about the whole thing doesn't seem quite right. Has anyone else come across this problem? And has anyone else actually gotten this "upgrade kit" and replaced the capacitors? Does it work? And finally, is there any sort of action I can take against M.A.S.T. for selling a product for the 1000 for which I have to modify my 1000 to get it to work? Any comments would be helpful.

I got an 80 meg drive from MAST about 6 months ago. I had the same problems you had. The techs. at MAST told me which connectors to cut and I have not had any problems since. It is a great drive! However, if I ever do need to use my Pport, I am not sure if it will work now.
