Note that comp.sys.amiga posted the maximum number of messages of all
newsgroups - 1764, and about 3 megabytes for dec 1989. Apart from
the specilaized groups that post large files, only talk.misc.politics sent
around more megabytes than comp.sys.amiga, helped by the 39% cross posting,
which also helped comp.sys.ibm.pc and comp.sys.mac.
Actually, I dunno if we really should let comp.sys.amiga have that much
traffic. Wading thro megabytes upon megabytes of news is not too much fun
after a while, y'know. Shouldn't comp.sys.amiga be split further? For, 1764
messages in 31 days comes to almost 57 postings a day, about 100 kbytes a day!
If you wait till the weekends to read it, you are looking at almost a megabyte.

The stats for December include all the duplicate articles reposted from
udel.edu. I know I didn't read 3.01 megabytes of comp.sys.amiga postings.
After junking the reposts, I think it was between 2.0 and 2.5 megabytes.
