[comp.sys.amiga] Hard Drives

duc@csd4.milw.wisc.edu (Duc Minh Tran) (01/21/89)

I just ordered the SupraDrive A2000 interface (sure hope it was a good
choice) and now I'm in search of a hard disk. I've never own a hard drive
before and have no idea which brand would work reliablely in conjunction
with a B2000. I would appreciate it if someone could lead me into the
right direction. Please email and tell me which drive you would or would
not recommend. BTW, I am mainly interested in 5.25" size hard disk. I
could do a summary if I get a lot of responses. Thankyou!

I'm asking this question for Bill Hoston (farhi@athena.mit.edu). Please
respond directly to him, and he'll summarize to the net.

What is the best combination of a hard drive and controller for an
A2000? Should I get a 2090A or wait for the 2091 to be released? How
about a third party controller? Also, as I plan on attending an Amy
expo soon, would I do better to purchase hardware there or get it
through a dealer?

Thanks!

I just ordered a Microbotics HardFrame Controller, and I will be ordering a
hard drive in a couple of weeks. I have an Amiga 2000 Rev. 4.3 with 1 MB
of chip memory and 2 MB of fast (Micron).
I'm looking to buy a 48 MB Seagate Drive with 28 MS access time, but I'm
wondering how much faster a Quantum Pro Drive would be? The Quantum costs
more and stores 40 MB, but I might be willing to buy it if will offer me
significantly more performance. Thanks in advance,
