To those who have sent querys to me regarding the Trumpcard 500 system,
I am sorry if you did not receive a reply but being new to the workings of
USENET, I royally screwed up using the vi editor.
In the hopes I don't screw up again, I will try to respond to those
who have left me messages.
To Michael Fisher, the reason you have only 1 meg and your Meta 4
is filled is because you purchased the upgrade using 256K simm module. If
possible, I would return the card and purchase the Meta 4 w/ 0 K from
Briwall and purchase the SIMM 1x8 80ns modules separately for $80 a piece
from Micro Elec. Tech. 508 435 9057. Good luck
To Mr. Gomez, sorry but I lost your message. If it was about why
the Trumpcard 500, it's because, in my opinion, for the reasons listed
earlier, it's the best of what's available for the A500 (which isn't saying
much for the quality of the a500 hard drive/ram systems available). Also,
I don't think a hard drive working through the parallel port will be as
efficient as one working off the bus, so I suggest you stay away from the
Tiny Tiger.
To Marco Gonzalez, I'm sorry but being new to hard drives in general,
I don't think I can help you. I have to admit I didn't even know ESDI
drives could be hooked up to the Trump system. Sorry I couldn't be of more
help. You might want to try calling IVS.
Lastly, to Meta 4 users or those thinking of buying, there was a
mistake in the documentation that caused me some grief. The pin configuration
for the 1 meg and 2 meg configs. were reversed. They should read correctly
as follows:
SZSEL0 SZSEL1
ON OFF 512k
OFF ON 1M
ON OFF 2M
OFF OFF 4M
Well, after some fumbling and a quick call to IVS, I am now the happy
father of a 3 meg Amiga 500 system, no sh*t!
Later, and good luck to those
who have or are considering an A500 systemjhc00614@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu (01/22/90)
One correction to the above message on the Meta 4 pin config. The 512k
is wrong, it reads on off.
It should read on on.
In other words: SZSEL0 SZSEL1
on on 512k
off on 1M
on off 2M
off off 4M
My thanks to the person who noticed my error.
