[comp.sys.amiga] An Amiga at work?

My problem is not a new one. I am having difficulty convincing
management to allow me an Amiga. We have Macs galore, and several
Sun workstations. I am in an R&D group specializing in
HCI (Human Computer Interfaces) and AI (Artificial Intelligence.

I have tried, bringing in Amy and running PD Demos and a direct
manipulation graphics interface I produced while at school.

I have argued the Amiga is a better performance/price platform than
other machines. I have informed them the Amiga is capable of
running applications from IBM-PC, Macintosh, and Unix worlds.

The problem I encounter seems much the same one that the Mac had
at first: business want everybody to have the same machine.
1) The organization knows how to support/purchase/use a Mac.
2) Software (especially Network based) may or may not work.

Also, the Amiga is not taken seriously.

My planned solution to this problem is to take advantage of a
benifit and buy an A3000. The company will pay half if I can
convince them it is actually a Mac clone. I will keep it at
work and return the Mac IIcx allocated to me. (The Mac is ok,
but graphics are a bit static, also I hate the way the OS
desk accessories try to do things behind your back, so
you have to try to guess what it is doing to correct a problem.
But I digress...) I hope the X windows on the Amiga is fast,
as X is important here.

I hope my day-to-day use will generate the attention this
machine deserves. (i.e. You don't need a Sparcstation
to do graphics intensive work, such as X)

If anyone else has a suggestion as to how to foster interest,
please write..
