[comp.sys.amiga] CBM second quarter results....Yuck!

mjsagar@sandia.gov (9123 SAGARTZ, MATHIAS J.) (02/03/90)

Results for the Oct.-Dec. quarter were released this morning
(1/31). Sales $311M vs $349M a year ago. Earnings $0.35/share vs over
a dollar a year ago. A friend who is a broker read me the release.
Sounded like the same old #@*&. Blame goes to falling 64/128 sales.
Amiga and MS-DOS doing O.K. with Amiga now over 50% of the business.
The dollar's sharp fall vs the Mark apparently didn't help very much.
What my friend read me made no mention of U.S. sales, which leads me
to guess that they were somewhere between disappointing and a disaster.
I try to make it a policy to end on a positive note, and luckily
there is one. If you thought the happenings in Eastern Europe were
astonishing, just pick up the February issue of BYTE. Yes, an article
mentions the Amiga (actually a couple of articles)! Joe-Bob Briggs and
I both say, check it out.
