I have received a few requests to make a modification to the format of the FishXref distribution. Since the Xref is done for public consumption I would like to gather a few votes concerning users opinions of the proposed change. PROBLEM: The use of qoutation marks in the 'Program' column when multiple versions of the same product are listed. Some users keep the list online and search it electronically, either by GREP or some version of 'find'. These processes cannot recognize the qoute marks as being additional versions of the product and thus only return the oldest or lowest version numbered entry for that product. The exception to this is when a product spans pages. Then the search also returns the first entry on the second page. PROPOSAL: Stop using qoute marks to indicate multiple entries for a product and list the product name on each line it occurs. There it is fans. Please let me know if you have a specific requirement either way. Unless I recieve sufficient votes to the contrary the next issue of the Xref will be void of qoutation marks in the 'PROGRAM' column. I will watch for responses through Friday, 16 February and procede according to the mail received at time. Regards, Jerry.
