[comp.sys.amiga] Amiga info requested

brett@smosjc.UUCP (Brett Coon) (02/09/90)

For the past 9 months, I have been Amiga-less, and, consequently, I
haven't stayed current on Amiga developments. Now I am considering the
purchase of another Amiga, and I was hoping I could get a summary of the
current Amiga status.

More specifically, I am interested in the following subjects:

Amiga Unix: Is it available yet? How much does it cost?
			Are any windowing systems available?

68030 board: How fast is it really? Is it possible to write
a program that uses the 68030 and the built-in
68000 concurrently? Do any programs use the MMU?

Enhanced Chip Set: When will it be available? What will
be involved in upgrading from the older chip set?

Hard disks: I remember talk of problems with the Amiga
hard disk controller several months ago when
overscan video was used. Have these problems
been resolved, or are third-party hard disk
			controllers recommended?

I don't trust my news server to get anything posted to comp.sys.amiga,
so please respond via e-mail to uunet!smosjc!brett. If anyone would like a
summary of the responses I get, please e-mail requests to the same address.

Thanks,
Brett Coon
