"The Quest I: Texture" is a port of Roger Powell's Texture sequencer from the IBM PC. Most important is that Texture no longer requires an MPU-401 interface -- the RS-232 port is used along with your favorite MIDI adapter, such as the ECE. I got it for $150. It has almost everything PC Texture has, except note editing is missing the ability to play the notes and is very slow at screen updating, and the link screen doesn't show the next four patterns it's about to play. Anyway, it seems totally stable -- far more so, in my opinion, than Music-X. With the support for standard interfaces, the price for going with Texture is a lot lower than it used to be, and it's probably worth a look for those who want a multitrack, pattern-based sequencer. -- -- uunet!sugar!karl "As long as there is a legion of superheros, all else -- can surely be made right." -- Sensor Girl -- Usenet access: (713) 438-5018
