In the February issue of "Computer Graphics World", there is a nice and informative article entitled "Quakes Shake on the Amiga" by Debra Rosenberg. It goes into great detail on how Researchers at the US Geological Survey (Menlo Park, CA) are using the Amiga to recreate the Loma Prieta quake in order to track patterns in it and other smaller quakes that hit every day. Not only does the article give some interesting insights into the work being done in the area of earthquake studies, but goes into great detail on why they like the amiga so much. In the same issue there is a very large spread on the various platforms available for designing multimedia presentations. The amiga gets an honorable mention, but a few quotes stand out from the rest. "Laying the Amiga by CBM [ed.] against the same ideal yardstick that we've used for the Apple and IBM platforms may prove difficult. This is because the Amiga at this time possesses no true multimedia authoring tools as we have defined them..." It then goes on to tell of the various things the amiga can do and ends with the following marvelous quote, "...For creating highly structered documents that integrate a variety of media in nonlinear ways, the Amiga (barring the purported announcement) is clearly out of its league." In the same issue, there is an add for Sculpt 3D for the mac, and they use our old friend the Juggler for the screen shot (not bad for a $1500 package on the mac), too bad it cannot animate at 3 times the price of Sculpt 4-D on the Amiga...
