[comp.sys.amiga] Soundtracker etc.

What is the current status of soundtracker???

It has been hacked numerous times and not much of the original
(copyrighted) code remains. The latest version I have has eight!
channels at the same time and I would like to share it with the
netters. (Without viloating copyright)
What are the legal aspects of this problem?

And while talking of commercial software. What are the legal
aspects of copying a program from a firm that have ceased to
exist or a program not longer for sale?

ANother program I'm interrested in is Alternate Reality, the company
who maked the Amiga version of AR the city has ceased to exist and I
loved that one. Is there any way to get the source for that program
and release sequels in PD?

Some of these questions are difficult to ask, but I'm NOT supporting
piracy , I just want to know what I'm allowed to do and whats out
of bounds.
