[comp.sys.amiga] Conner drive specs

mmaston@portia.Stanford.EDU (Michael Maston) (02/08/90)

Anyone out there know the specs (# of heads, blocks, formatted capacity, etc)
of a Conner CP-340. I know it is a SCSI drive, but I have no other docs for
it (actually I will be able to get about a dozen of these suckers). It is a
3.5" drive and my controller will be a Pacific Peripherals Overdrive card.

The CP 340 has 4 heads, 26 sectors per track, 788 cylinders

The CP340 has: 4 heads
                26 blocks/track
               788 cylinders

(the above data from Conner's manual, Preliminary Revision II October 1987)

As I recall from doing some testing with it, the CP340 is an exceedingly
quiet unit.

Performance specs: seek track-to-track 8ms
                        average 29ms
                        maximum 50ms
                   theoretical transfer rate: 1MB/sec

According to the documentation I have here from Conner, the CP-340 has:

          4 heads
          752 cylinders (not 788)
          26 sectors per track
          29ms average seek time
          40mb unformatted.
(Formatted size depends on error tracks, etc).

Best wishes,

      Darrin Hyrup

darrell.grainger@canremote.uucp (DARRELL GRAINGER) (02/13/90)

The Conner CP340 drive has the following:

4 heads
752 cylinders
26 blocks per track
512K blocks

Interleave of 5 appears to work best.

Hope that helps,

Darrell
