Early last November I sent a letter to Manx asking what the upgrade policy for a very old compiler (v3.2). Today (February 13) I received a postcard from them with their update notice. This was despite the problems that both I and they had moved since my last update. Perhaps they are getting their act together. Here's what the postcard says: ------------------------------------------------- Aztec C Version 5.0 Amiga Update * Full ANSI C compiler * Full ANSI libraries * Fast, tight, rock solid code * New 900+ page manual * Full MMU support * 1.3 Workbench compatible * QuikFix Update Procedure * Call 800-221-0440 (non-USA: 201-542-2121) * Tell us your Aztec C serial # * If you have SDB tell us your serial # * Indicate special add-on offers * Specify method of shipping * Specify method of payment * Give address if different from label Standard Offer The standard update fee is $75. You get Axtec C 5.0 plus updates to SDB, UniTools, & Library Source if you are licensed for them. Special Add-on Offers * SDB $30 * UniTools $20 * Both $40 ------------------------------------------------------ I presume SDB is the source code debugger and UniTools are some unix tools. I think I have grep, make, diff and Z (manx's vi, never touch the thing myself :-) I don't know what QuikFix is. Could someone comment on the highlights of SDB. For example can you: 1. Step by line or instruction or step over or into functions? 2. Examine scalar varaibles of all types including agregates like structs and arrays and registers.? 3. Deposit values into same? 4. Set breaks at lines, instructions and functions? 5. Call functions from the debugger? 6. Use a command language with control flow statements (e.g. if-then-else, while, goto) Frank Glandorf -- gcglan@sdrc.uu.net "If the end of the world was annouced tomorrow, I'd move to Cincinnati since everything happens there twenty years later" -- Samuel L.
