I'm searching for _fast_ communication software. It should be able to cope with V.32 MNP 5 modem. I have tried VLT 4.226 which is fast but its VT-100 part isn't good enough. I have tried Handshake, JrComm, NComm, OnLine! Platinum, but I am not satisfied. I have also tested ATalk III v1.0. It's old but it is fast, it has good VT-100, and it supports international key maps. I'd like to get information about the newest ATalk III. All information is welcome, but especially I'd like to get answers to the following questions: - Is it still fast? - Does it support external fonts (The best way to get native characters is to edit a font) ? - Does it support internal key maps? - Has it translation tables? - A good mail-order company which ships the latest version and sells abroad (Address and FAX-number, if available) If there are other good (and fast!) programs, please let me know. Thank you -- NO CARRIER

ZMODEM is much faster. |- Does it support external fonts (The best way to get native | characters is to edit a font) ? Yes. All the "terminal" fonts in the distribution fonts directory are standard Amiga fonts, editable to your heart content :-) And we do provide quite a number of international fonts, too. Bjorn Knuttson, for example, was instrumental in getting right the stuff for the Scandinavian countries. The latest release has a set of keymaps for Sweden by Bjorn. |- Does it support internal key maps? The current version "copies" the current keymap, and changes only the keypad, arrow and function keys (the last ones are programmable). So if you want to use a particular keymap with A-Talk III you just have to do a Setmap right before executing it (you can send 8-bit codes, for example or use dead keys). |- Has it translation tables? No. And probably will never have them. The speed in the emulation is due in part to the absence of translation tables. |- A good mail-order company which ships the latest version and sells | abroad (Address and FAX-number, if available) I believe both Go Amigo and Creative Computers ship abroad when you pay with a credit card.
