[comp.sys.amiga] FTP and FISH DISKS

mcdonley@dinl.uucp (alan mcdonley) (02/16/90)

Some time back I was able to get some files of Fred Fish disks via FTP from
128.174.5.54 uxe.cso.uiuc.edu

Yesterday I got connection refused on that address. Is there another
site ??

I also am gathering that in order to get good files, I should be sure
FTP is in image mode by invoking it as FTP -i xxx.xxx.x.xx? Then I will
get files to my Sun3/260. Then I must make sure Kermit is in binary
mode with set file type binary on the server and my amiga. Are there
any other gotchas to watch out for? so far I have not successfully
achieved the complete chain for a single file, but I have not tried
much.

WRONG! 'FTP -i' means 'interactive mode off' and not 'image'. You have
to type 'TYPE I' as soon you are connected to the foreign host to get
into the image mode.

Hope it helps,
