Last night, I unplugged my modem from the serial port while the computer was on. Since, then, neither the serial or external drive ports are functioning. Does anyone know if I blew up a board, a chip, or what??? The external drive port is not totally destroyed, because the computer comes up with "disk in DF1 not a DOS disk" - but, the drive never checks the disk. Any info? thanx \////////////////////////////////////\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\/ <> "For my 2 cents, I'd pay a dollar" <> <> -------------------------------- <> <> JON DEUTSCH <> <> INTERNET <jon@vax1.acs.udel.edu> <> <> BITNET <HUJ10517@UDACSVM> <> /\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\////////////////////////////////////////\

You've blown one of the 8520 chips. See your dealer for a replacement. They are VERY static sensitive, you should have the dealer do the replacement if you're not familiar with the proper procedures. -- /* ** Don Curtis ...boulder!tcr!dcpc!dc ** CompuServe 76703,4321 ** 76703.4321@compuserve.com ** dcpc!dc@tcr.UUCP */

This happenned on mine when the diskinserted line no longer functioned Try using DISKCHANGE, which may fix it, at least as a temporary solution. Jonathan, try the CIA's (8520)'s switch them and if the ports begin to work purchase one from your local dealer...it is possible for both of them to be bad....Mike -- ------------------------------------------------- Mike Miller - via FidoNet node 1:110/300 UUCP: uunet!dayvb!afitamy!210!Mike.Miller ARPA: Mike.Miller@f210.n110.z1.FIDONET.ORG -------------------------------------------------| >>>> The // Air Force Institute of Technology | > // Amiga Users BBS/UFGateway | > \ // Dayton, Ohio (513)-252-7681 | > X/ 1:110/300 | -------------------------------------------------|
