Sergei Makarov, the Soviet ice hockey star now playing with the Calgary Flames in the NHL, was interviewed on the Journal, a Canadian news program. During the course of the interview, a clip showed him and his son playing Wayne Gretzky Hockey on an Amiga 500. Hmm. Are there any Amigas in Russia? :-) -- // /// CIS: 73200,3117 \X/oel ///urray Usenet: a23@mindlink.UUCP

Are there any Amigas in Russia? :-) > Actually (surprisingly) yes. We recently had a Soviet delegation here in Australia for a joint workshop. I was amazed to find that one of them had an Amiga (1000 or 500, can't remember) and that he was looking to buy some software for it. I imagine that he might have bought it while he was outside the USSR since Commodoreski isn't that well established there :-) He appeared to be quite a keen hacker, and was looking for compilers, etc. I wonder if they've heard about the educational discounts/A1000 tradeins :-) Picture: dialing 800-..... 'Your nearest authorised Amiga dealer is in downtown West-Berlin....' :-) > -- > // /// CIS: 73200,3117 > \X/oel ///urray Usenet: a23@mindlink.UUCP Markus Buchhorn Mt Stromlo and Siding Spring Observatory, Canberra, Australia markus@mso.anu.oz.au
