[comp.sys.amiga] Where can I find SID?

tomri@majestix.liu.se (Tom Rindborg) (02/19/90)

Lately there has been some discussion about a program called SID which
seems like a nice beast. But where can I find it? Any FTP site? I
assume it is PD/ShareWare/FreeWare, is that correct? Please ...

SID is an excellent directory utility for power users. It was written
by Timm Martin, 500 110th Avenue North #102, St. Petersburg, Florida
33716. It is distributed as shareware and the fee is $25. If you can't
find SID posted to a local bulletin board you might write Timm direct.

I can put SID on my local machine, newton.physics.purdue.edu. I have a
version that was made available through the AmigoTimes v 1.3. I think
that it is a public domain program. I should be aboe to post it sometime
today. I don't make any guarantees on how long I can keep it there. I will
promise it will exist for at least two weeks, probably longer.

SID isn't public domain. It's shareware. SID was written by Timm
Martin. Send him a check for $25 (the address is in the program). You'll
be glad you did. He is working on version 2.0 now--it was almost ready for
release last week. Timm has put a lot of effort into this program and
deserves to get paid for his work. Besides, you want the latest version
with all the improvements, don't you?

You are talking about two different programs. The public domain SID is
a simple system monitor, which shows active tasks/libraries/device etc.
This is the one available from newton.physics.purdue.edu.

Tim Martin's SID is a very nice directory utility, which lets you
copy/delete/rename/move between directories, execute scripts, run programs,
display files in a variety of ways, automatic archiving/dearchiving etc.
It is very comfortable and highly customizable.

I downloaded an early version from a local BBS, but I have not seen it
at any FTP sites, and it is not in the Fish collection, as far as I know.
