------------- Throwing consideration of my research progect aside, I Just Bought three killer games, Dungeon Master,Populous, and Shadow of the Beast. I have made far too many Dante-like trips through disk hell lately, so the first thing I did was try to back them up to other floppies. Most of the Software I buy is not copy protected, so my backup software is sort of old. I first tried an origional release of MarauderII, wich has worked ok in the past. It didnt work on any of the origional disks. I then tried Project D, I don't know how old it is, I bought it from someone who was ditching all his software. Anyway, after an hour of sturggling with every parameter in the package, I dragged my weary and sweat soaked body away from the console in defeat. I KNOW my Amiga eats disks. It's like a lizard, about once a month, it gorges itself on one floppy, then digests that one for around 30 days before it needs to feed again. I NEED to back up these programs! I guess I have four main thoughts on this situation, From: chymes@fribourg.csmil.umich.edu (Charles Hymes) Path: fribourg.csmil.umich.edu!chymes (1) What is some smart, cost effective backup software for these disks? What software have you netters used to sucessfully backup these games? (2)I remember some discussion a while back about mounting DM on hard disk. Could someone please clarify? (3) I want to lobby Psygnosis and FTL to make "backupable" or hard drive instalable software available. anyone care to join me? Maybe we could start a discussion group on alternate ways to defeat piracy while minimizing the effect of damaged disks. (4)I urge all game players to buy a copy of It Came from the Desert by Cinemaware. It is NOT copy protected, it is a great game and I think everyone should support the producers for taking the right step. Off the soap box, Charlweed Hymerfan,The Dude
