Hi, everyone! This is the president of the new University Amiga Computer Society at the University of Texas at Austin. Although there are 50,000+ students here, our group is only 30+ strong. Why? Most likely it's because there are only two University-owned A1000's on campus, one of which is broken. There are Mac and IBM labs all over campus. And you guys up in Pennsylvania think you have it bad. Anyone who wants a horrifying story of what it takes to start a group up down here where people think that my Amiga is my Spanish girlfriend should send me mail. However, many of the group members have already decided to find out more about the new ASOCC program, and information has been very slow in coming. Could anyone at CBM post some new information about what is going on, and perhaps try and contact me (and other groups)? Also, we are planning on having a computer expo here several weeks after spring break. Can anyone give us pointers on how to go about getting off-campus people to come? Now seems like the perfect time for CBM to start a new education incentive. The local merchants around here are very angry at U.T. since we get to sell Mac and IBM hardware at reduced prices. Our group decided that we much preferred that CBM continue with the program as it is, and the Austin area dealerships have even begun advertising in the campus paper. You would not believe how much Commodore's new marketing has helped spread information about what the Amiga is, and we plan to follow through with upcoming events like the expo. After only half of a semester, we are slowly coming up through the woodwork here. Thanks, Commodore! /// /// Charles Callaway (theorist@ccwf.cc.utexas.edu) /// President \\\/// University Amiga Computer Society \XX/ *Cutesy aphorisms take up space! -- and in MY brain!*
