Hi, I "upgraded", and a couple of thousand dollars later I can now do on a 2000HD what I used to do on my 1000. (Really more cause HT Electronics was nice enough to let me pay the difference and get a 100M Quantum in place of the 40M:) Now I've got my Pal Box (yes a Pal, not a Pal Jr.) sitting here doing nothing. It's a 5 slot old form Zorro expansion box that plugs in to the side of your A1000 (without a passthru:( ). Inside is a megabyte of ram that maps into $C00000. Also inside is a 2M autoconfig memory board...if you replace the 256K simm arrays with 1Meg simm arrays, and stick a couple of jumpers on it's a 8M board. Also inside is an ST-506 hard drive interface which will interface 2 drives. There's a 43 Meg Micro-Science with 22msec average access time in there too.
